The presentation "Perspectives on global Outsourcing & Offshoring (O&O) with select highlights on Eastern Europe / Bulgaria" is based on the research McKinsey & Company puts forward every year at its annual Conference of the Eastern European Services and Technologies Community (EESTCom), this year taking place April 26/27 in Sofia, BG. Next to an overview on megatrends in the global O&O space we will shed some highlights on the growth of the O&O industry in Eastern Europe and its medium-term outlook with specific focus on implications for Bulgaria and what opportunities O&O could provide to you.
Dr. Peter Peters is a Partner of McKinsey and Company consulting global production companies on organisation and IT topics for 15 years. He has worked in Eastern Europe for many years and together with Detlev Hoch he has helped putting Eastern Europe "on the map" for moving service and knowledge work into lower cost, high quality talent pools. Peter beliefs that Eastern Europe and especially Bulgaria can go a long way in strengthening the economy further by growing an industry sector around service and knowledge work and at the same time provide an easy entry for Bulgarian students into global, well reputed companies
Detlev J. Hoch (Dipl. Wi.-Ing. TU Karlsruhe, MBA Queen’s University Kingston, Canada) is a Director at McKinsey & Company in Düsseldorf and a Senior Partner in its Business Technology Office (BTO). Detlev is co-leading McKinsey’s global practice on Outsourcing and Offshoring (O&O) and co-initiated McKinsey’s „Eastern European Services and Technologies Community“ (EESTCom).
Detlev used to head McKinsey’s global SW&Services practice and lead the global research project "Secrets of Software Success“ (HBSP 2000) and is co- author of „Successful IT Management in the Public Sector“ (in German, Gabler 2005). He is a renowned speaker/moderator at events like CeBIT and FT/NASSCOM and a member of GI, VWI, the New York Academy of sciences and the Planetary Society.
